What electrical codes apply to temporary generator connections?

CODI generator docking stations comply with NFPA 70 (NEC) Article 408 for switchboard construction and wire bending space. They fulfill:

  • NEC 700.3(F) & 701.12(G): Mandatory temporary connection means in emergency and standby power systems.
  • NEC 406.13: Code-compliant support for single-pole separable interconnects (cam-locks).

What are the maximum voltage and ampacity ratings for CODI switchboards?

CODI UL 891 switchboards are rated for low-voltage AC systems up to 600V nominal (1,000V maximum within UL scope), with continuous main bus ampacities ranging from 400A to 5,000A+. How do CODI switchboards address arc-flash safety?

CODI switchboards support NFPA 70E arc-flash risk reduction through integrated Energy-Reducing Maintenance Switching (ERMS) per NEC 240.87. Systems can be configured with Zone-Selective Interlocking (ZSI), maintenance mode switches, and infrared (IR) inspection windows for compliance-ready thermal scanning without opening live panels.


What is the difference between an MLO and an MCB panelboard?

An MLO (Main Lugs Only) panelboard terminates incoming conductors directly on the bus lugs and relies on an upstream device for main overcurrent protection, whereas an MCB (Main Circuit Breaker) panelboard includes an integral main breaker that functions as both primary overcurrent protection and a local disconnect.
