Access: Padlockable front doors with three-point latching.
Cable Entry: Removable gland plates and bottom-feed provisions for conduit routing and cable termination.
Bus: High-conductivity silver-plated copper or tin-plated aluminum; full-capacity neutral where required and an equipment-grounding bus sized for the application.
COMPONENTS
Connection Type: Industry-standard Series 16 Cam-Lock receptacles (color-coded for phase and conductor identification and labeled for system voltage and current rating) for rapid, tool-free generator cabling deployment.
Circuit Breakers: Available with qualified breaker families from multiple major manufacturers (Eaton, Siemens, ABB, etc.), subject to ratings and UL 891 construction requirements.
Surge Protection: Integrated Type 1 or Type 2 Surge Protective Devices (SPD) available to shield sensitive downstream electronics from transient voltage spikes.
Instrumentation: Phase-sequence monitoring verifies correct phase rotation before connection or energization. Optional voltage indicators provide visual source-voltage confirmation.
SAFETY
Interlocking: Kirk Key or mechanical walking-beam interlocks available to prevent cross-connection and ensure safe transfer sequences between utility and generator power.
Connector Safety: Design supports compliance with NEC 406.13 for Single-Pole Separable Interconnects (Cam-Locks), preventing accidental disconnection under load.
Dead-Front Construction: Barriers and covers limit access to energized parts during normal operation with doors and covers properly secured.
Grounding: Dedicated grounding studs and an equipment-grounding bus, sized for the application, provide a defined equipment-grounding path during temporary power setup.

FAQ
What is a generator docking station?
A generator docking station is a permanently installed, UL 891-listed dead-front switchboard that provides a safe, code-compliant connection point for temporary generator power. It eliminates improvised cabling during outages by giving facilities a dedicated, pre-engineered interface between their electrical system and a portable or rental generator.
What electrical codes does the CODI Generator Docking Station comply with?
The CODI Generator Docking Station is UL 891 listed for dead-front switchboard construction and can be configured to support applicable NEC requirements, including Article 408 and temporary alternate-source connections under NEC 700.3(F) of the 2023 NEC. Final compliance depends on the adopted code edition, system design, installation, and AHJ approval.
What voltage and ampacity configurations are available?
Units are configurable for 208Y/120V, 480Y/277V, and 600V three-phase AC systems. Continuous current ratings are available from 400A to 4000A. Short circuit current ratings (SCCR) starts at 65 kA rms symmetrical, with configurations available up to 100 kA (SCCR).
Can the generator docking station be used for load bank testing?
Yes. CODI builds dual-purpose generator that facilitates testing performed as part of an NFPA 110 inspection, maintenance and testing program. These combined units allow critical facilities, such as hospitals and data centers, to perform mandatory routine load testing on permanent standby generators and safely connect temporary backup power using the same UL 891-listed enclosure.
What enclosure options are available for outdoor installation?
The standard outdoor configuration is NEMA 3R (Type 3R), rated for protection against rain, sleet, and snow. A stainless steel Type 3R enclosure is available for additional corrosive resistance. Indoor installations use a NEMA 1 (Type 1) enclosure. All configurations use padlockable front doors with three-point latching.
