KEY FEATURES

Custom Configuration

Engineered to your project's exact voltage, ampacity, fault current, and breaker requirements — not a catalog solution.

UL 891 Listed Dead-Front

Every switchboard ships UL 891 listed as a dead-front assembly, preventing access to live bus and components during normal operation.

High-Capacity Bus

Main bus ratings from 400A to 5000A; silver-plated copper or tin-plated aluminum bus available.

High Fault Current Ratings

Short-Circuit Current Ratings (SCCR) 65kAIC standard up to 200kAIC to match facility fault current requirements.

Multi-OEM Breaker Options

Available with qualified circuit-breaker families from Eaton, Siemens, ABB, LS, and other manufacturers, subject to electrical ratings and UL 891 construction requirements.

Enclosure Options

TYPE 1 (indoor) and TYPE 3R (outdoor) configurations; stainless steel available for corrosive environments.

FAQ

What is a UL 891 dead-front switchboard?

A UL 891 switchboard is a low-voltage power distribution assembly listed under the UL 891 standard for dead-front switchboards. Dead-front construction means internal barriers prevent accidental contact with live busbars and components during normal operation or maintenance access. CODI switchboards are factory-tested and ship with a full documentation package including wiring diagrams, bill of materials, and UL label.

How does a switchboard differ from a panelboard?

Switchboards are generally larger, higher-capacity assemblies designed for service entrance and main distribution at the top of a building's electrical hierarchy. They are built to UL 891 and typically handle 400A to 5000A. Panelboards are downstream distribution equipment, typically 100A to 1200A, built to UL 67, and used to distribute branch-circuit power to individual loads. In most facilities, power flows from the utility through a switchboard and then to panelboards.

What short circuit current ratings (SCCR) are available?

CODI switchboards are standard at 65kAIC bracing with options available up to 200kAIC to match facility fault current requirements. SCCR is rated and marked per UL 891. Arc-flash risk reduction configurations are available, including energy-reducing maintenance settings per NEC 240.87 and compatibility with Siemens DAS and ABB RELT systems.

Can CODI switchboards serve as the service entrance for a facility?

Yes. CODI switchboards are available with optional Service Entrance (SE) rating, which allows the unit to function as the primary disconnect point per NEC 230. This is specified at the time of order and requires the appropriate main disconnect device and labeling per NEC 230.70 and 230.91.
